Course: ENGL 3080 Persuasion: History, Theory, & Practice
Semester taken: Spring 2024
Instructor: Dr. Elizabeth Lopez
For this assignment, I selected my final research paper from a Persuasion course, which coincidentally aligned with the topic of my grant project in a concurrent Grant and Proposal Writing course, both taught by the same instructor. I chose this topic because it allowed me to explore an issue I am deeply passionate about—integrating digital literacy curricula into public elementary schools. Given the shared subject matter, working on these projects simultaneously provided a cohesive and focused approach to my research.
In this particular paper, I crafted my argument for introducing digital literacy by considering a target audience that included both education administrators and parents. Anticipating resistance from individuals who might be skeptical of incorporating more screen time in schools, I framed my argument with this perspective in mind. Although I believe I have successfully conveyed my argument, with additional time, I would have liked to incorporate more contemporary stories and relevant news articles to further strengthen my case.
